A short note on gifts

Just a note to the person who gave my kids new fangled crayons and coloring books for Christmas. Yes, they did use their coloring books, but they also used the wall in the dining room. Just thought that should be noted... Gotta get back to the kitchen to help J with the dishes and cleaning up...if I stay another minute, my ass will be grass...

oops! (at least they didn't get gifts that are battery operated and make obnoxious noises that you'll have to hear ALL day long . . . )

=)

Angie- Oh...Goobs has a new game that is both portable and can be hooked up to a TV-he'd rather be mobile than hooked up to a TV...it's really obnoxious...

Mel-I suppose I can look at it this way...they're creative and artistic. I'm sure your boys have done things that my kids haven't attempted either...so no worries. Hope it was a Merry Christmas down in South Africa!

Aw... I remember, before LN, saying something about gifts you could give to a kid whose parent(s) you don't particularly like - recorders (they can be pretty annoying), drum sets, anything loud... paints and/or crayons for a little one who has yet to really (I mean, really) understand the consequences of coloring the wall, floor, fridge, etc..
Now that I am a mommy... I also realize how evil that is. Tsk, tsk.
So... did it come off?

MN-we have to get a new eraser sponge...you know the white one that gets all that stuff off of any surface. So as of now, the offending piece of artistic creativity remains on the wall.

You know, if one of them grows up to be a famous artist, it would be a shame to clean it up. That piece of wall would then become an artifact, so maybe I don't want to clean it up right away.

there are still sharpie marker drawings on the wall of my son's room from TWO years ago! (*i figured he might do it again, so i left it until we got out of that phase . . . i'm having the entire house repainted this spring and then re-floored.)

these are the sacrifices we make as parents. i once told my (X)MIL "what's more important? a carpet or my child's childhood? the stain will come out or maybe it won't, but at least they didn't feel like pristine carpets were more important then them . . . "

Angie...I'm with ya all the way on the whole deal about writing on stuff....Our kitchen table has been broken in by the Bun with a ball point pen-I looked down and saw loop de loops scrawled there the other day...I'm starting to like them.
